I hope Yushin Okami will fight the winner of Silva and Belfort. Yushin Okami deserve the title shot after beating Nate Marquardt for the number one contender in the middleweight championship. Unfortunately, Vitor Belfort's superstar status in MMA put Yushin Okami's bid for a title fight on hold. Now, if Dana White could just realize once again that Yushin Okami has always been a top fighter in the middleweight division, we might have our first asian UFC champion.

Takanori Gomi had a lot of problems finding the target against the wild but effective fast movements of Clay Guida. Gomi didn't really get much chances on hitting Guida with any solid punches.

In round 2, Gomi hits Guida in the head with a knee but Guida quickly grab Gomi and took him down. Guida got the guillotine and submitted Gomi.

Gomi now has 2 loses and 1 win in the UFC.

Here is what Clay Guida's think of Gomi's knockout prowess and what he might do to take the win.

"Just being the Clay Guida of old, taking people down and massacring them on the ground, that's what got me here and that's what going to take me to a victory over Takanori Gomi."

"I think Gomi's the hardest puncher in two or three divisions; I put that guy up against most strikers in the welterweight or middleweight division," said the 29-year old Guida. "He's kind of like the Thiago Alves of the lightweight division, just more unorthodox."

"A lot of head movement and lot of good footwork and stuff; I'm not going to stand in front of him like his last opponent Tyson Griffin did, and he (Griffin) was actually getting the better of the exchanges in the fight and then just kind of got clipped. He (Gomi) has got a lead hook that catches people quite a bit, he's got a nasty cross right down the middle, and he's got a lot of good body shots. He switches up from southpaw to orthodox, which opens up the takedown and makes him easier to take down."

No matter what the outcome is, one thing is sure that this will not be a boring fight.

Yushin Okami brought the thunder at UFC 122 defeating Nate "the great" Marquardt. Okami won via unanimous decision over Marquardt and earn a title shot for the UFC middleweight championship. After four years of fighting in the UFC, Yushin finally gets a crack at the UFC middleweight championship crown.

“Nate was a great fighter,” said Okami. “I’m ready for the championship.”

Okami will try to become the first japanese to win a UFC championship belt. He will face the winner of Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort match. He was then asked who he wanted to face between the two. Yushin Okami wants Silva and is ready for the championship match.

With the win, Okami improves to 27-5; Marquardt falls to 33-10-2.

Marquardt isn’t afraid of Anderson Silva

Yushin Okami's opponent at UFC 121 Nate "The Great" Marquardt has something to say about Anderson Silva the current UFC middlewieght champion.

“It’s been known to me for a long time that Anderson had holes in his game,” Marquardt said during a UFC 122 media call on Friday. “If anything, [Chael Sonnen nearly beating Silva at UFC 117] was more of an eye-opening event for the media because they put him on this pedestal like he was unbeatable.”

“Chael was able to expose, obviously, that he’s susceptible to takedowns, susceptible to ground and pound, and even that if someone lands a punch on him, he can get wobbled. If anything, it was more eye-opening for the media, not for me,” Marquardt affirmed.

“For me, the most important thing is to get the title fight and fight the champion. That’s my dream is to become the champion. For me, it doesn’t necessarily matter who it is, but at the same time, I would definitely prefer it to be Silva [instead of Vitor Belfort] just because he has been the champion for so long, and he’s proven to be the top of the division.”

Very confident and well said Nate but you need to pass "the thunder" Yushin Okami first.

Hometown bet Michael Bisping triumphed over Yoshihiro Akiyama by unanimous decision

in the main event of UFC 20. All judges scored unanimousl for Bisping. Akiyama had his chances stunning bisping a few times but didn't really follow up on it specially in the first round. Akiyama showed his toughness and unbreakable will in the fight and best of all he is still sexy after the defeat.

Yoshihiro Akoyama's record drop to 13 wins and 3 losses.

CLAY GUIDA ANNOUNCES UFC 125 BOUT WITH GOMI

UFC fighter Clay Guida was interviewed on Sunday night on ESPN 1100 radio in Chicago to announce his fight. Clay Guida and Takanori Gomi will fight at UFC 125 on New Year’s Day in Las Vegas.

Clay Guida:

“It’s time for ‘The Dude’ to get back into camp and get ready to take down Takanori Gomi, one of my favorite fighters growing up and watching MMA,” he revealed on ESPN 1100’s MMA Tonight. “I look up to him and I’m gonna look up to picking him up off of the ground after I ground and pound him into the canvas.”

“I’m gonna beat him to the punch. I’m gonna take him down and implement my game plan,” said Guida.

This will be Tanakanori Gomi's third fight in the UFC. He lost a decision against Kenny Florian in his debut but knockout Tyson Griffin in his second fight.

The winner of this fight will be a step or two closer for a lightweight title shot.

While not officially announced by the UFC, it is expected to take place on November 13, 2010 at König Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany.

This is really a tough challenge for Yushin Okami facing a dangerous fighter like Belfort who knocked out his last three previous opponents. But if he gets through this one, a title shot and a possible a championship belt on his waist awaits him.

As the KOREA TIMES informs us, Akiyama told the world, “I have something to say. Shiho Yano and I have registered the wedding,” while the excited bride showed a little more emotion in her comments, proclaiming, “I’m comfortable to be with Akiyama. I’m grateful I met him.”
